exhibition much, as it would mean sorting the Law collection in the warehouse and splitting it into pictures to be exhibited and those that were not to be.
Added to the above, the establishment people both in the Crown Agents and here, cannot see their way to providing a suitable room and, if they were able to do so, they would not be allowed to let us put hooks into the walls to hang the pictures on. It is all very disappointing, but neither we, nor the Colonial Office-Crown Agents Art Club (whom we have consulted throughout) can see any way of overcoming these technical and administrative difficulties.
I am writing, as in the attached minute, to the Crown Agents, authorizing them to pay Sayer his £1,000, when they collect the pictures. Could you kindly let me know what I am to tell them about- collection and about despatching the pictures?- I also enclose a letter to Sayer on this point. Since we cannot have an exhibition, I assume that it will save space not to have the plates mounted (your letter makes it clear that Sayer has not yet arranged this) but I am sure that Hong Kong would welcome any suggestions that Sayer or about how this could best be done.
I gather from Anderson that Sayer wo like the as possible
